01 — Overview

This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on sarahansboury.com (the "Site"), why, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

In short: the Site is built to be light on tracking. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media pixels or analytics tools. The only third-party technology on the Site is a bot-protection service that runs on our inquiry forms and is strictly necessary for security. Because we do not currently set any non-essential cookies, we do not need to ask you for cookie consent. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

02 — What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit. They let the site recognize your device, remember your preferences, keep you logged in, or measure how the site is used.

• First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by a different domain — for example, by a service embedded in the page.
• Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.

Similar technologies include browser local storage and session storage, pixels or web beacons, and device fingerprinting. Where this policy refers to cookies, it includes these technologies.

03 — Technologies We Use Today

The Site does not set any cookies of its own, and it does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking technologies. Links to our social-media and video channels, to Global Pickleball Academy, and to the Online Pickleball Academy are ordinary links and load nothing from those platforms.

The only third-party technology in use is a bot-protection service on our inquiry forms. It is strictly necessary for security: it checks that a form is being submitted by a person rather than an automated program, and may set a short-lived cookie on its own domain solely to complete that check. It does not track you across websites and is not used for advertising.

Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (for example, your IP address and the pages requested) to operate and secure the Site. These are not cookies and store nothing on your device.

The Online Pickleball Academy is a separate site. When you click "Member login" or open a course, you leave this Site for a third-party learning platform, which sets its own cookies — including login and preference cookies — under its own cookie and privacy policies.

04 — Technologies We May Add in Future

As the Site grows, we may introduce additional technologies. If we do, we will update this policy before they go live and, where the law requires it, present a consent banner so you can choose which non-essential categories to allow. The categories we may add are:

• Strictly necessary cookies — needed for security, to remember your settings, or to balance load across our servers. These will not require consent, but we will list them here.
• Functional cookies — remember choices you make, such as language or display preferences.
• Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it, using aggregated data wherever possible.
• Marketing cookies — we have no current plans to use advertising or social-media tracking cookies. If we ever do, we will ask for your consent first.

05 — Managing Cookies and Your Choices

Because the Site currently sets no non-essential cookies, there is nothing to opt out of on the Site itself. You can still control cookies through your browser:

• Blocking or deleting cookies. Most browsers let you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block cookies from all or specific sites. Instructions are available for Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
• Effect on the Site. If you block third-party cookies or scripts in your browser, our forms may be unable to complete the bot-verification step and you may not be able to submit them. In that case, you can still reach us by email at hello@sarahansboury.com.
• Private browsing. Using a private or incognito window deletes any cookies set during your visit when you close the window.

06 — Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers let you send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to the websites you visit. Because we do not track visitors across websites, and do not sell or share personal information, the Site behaves the same way whether or not it receives these signals. If we add technologies in future that are affected by these signals, we will honor GPC signals where the law requires it and update this policy to explain how.

07 — Changes to This Policy

We review this policy whenever we change the technologies used on the Site, and at least once a year. When we update it, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we add non-essential cookies, we will also tell you through a notice on the Site and ask for your consent where required.
